Increasing total patent portfolio to 16 patents and applications

Hannover, Germany – July 30, 2026 – Angiolutions, a medical technology company pioneering an early-stage treatment for abdominal aortic aneurysms (AAAs), today announced that its award-winning intellectual property portfolio has expanded to 33 patent filings across five patent families. 11 patents have been granted, while 21 applications remain pending.

The portfolio provides layered protection around Angiolutions’ novel AAA treatment and its A³-Shield® System. It covers the device-independent treatment approach, implantation planning and navigation, critical implant features and key elements of the corresponding delivery system.

“Bringing a first-in-class treatment to patients requires a robust and carefully structured IP foundation,” said Dr. Uwe Raaz, co-founder and co-CEO of Angiolutions. “Reaching 30 patent filings is an important milestone and demonstrates the progress we have made in protecting both the core treatment concept and its practical implementation.”

Angiolutions’ IP strategy was previously recognized with first place in the FICPI World IP Day Competition 2023, which honored the company’s IP strategy and patents protecting its minimally invasive treatment for small AAAs.

“Our goal is to give patients with small AAAs a pro-active, minimally invasive treatment option before their disease reaches a dangerous stage,” said Dr. Isabel Schellinger, co-founder and co-CEO of Angiolutions. “Our IP strategy reflects the breadth of the innovation. It protects not only the implant itself, but also the treatment approach, implantation process and delivery system – creating a strong foundation for our long-term clinical and commercial strategy.”

About Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm (AAA)

AAA is a highly prevalent, progressive dilation of the abdominal aorta. Although most AAAs are detected at a small size, current interventional treatments are generally reserved for large, advanced aneurysms due to their inherent risk profile. As a result, patients with small AAAs often face years of “watch and wait” follow‑up without an active treatment option. Angiolutions’ A3-Shield® will address this unmet need by introducing pulse wave modulation as new treatment approach to halt disease progression at an early stage.
